There is something about sacrifice that forms the character of students who are preparing themselves to do God’s work. For that reason, we believe that every student needs to make an exerted effort to pay for their studies at a Bible school or extension training site in Africa. However, at Africa’s Hope we also realize that for many of those who want to receive training for ministry, their financial realities keep them from having sufficient funds to pay. Because of this reality, some will settle for ministry without training. Others may lose heart and choose another vocation other than active full-time ministry. To help bridge this gap, Africa’s Hope is providing hundreds of scholarships to deserving students annually, empowering them to be trained and to minister at their highest level of potential.
Pastor Sylvain Kaboré’s story is a powerful testament to the impact of radical obedience. Originally a schoolteacher in Burkina Faso, Sylvain’s life took a dramatic turn in 2014 when both he and his wife received divine confirmation to move to Chad. Despite facing initial setbacks—including the loss of his teaching career in his home country—Sylvain embraced the transition, noting, "I had lost my job, but I gained my calling!"
Upon arriving in Chad, Sylvain initially served in primary education. However, a scholarship from Africa’s Hope allowed him to pursue a Master’s degree in Missiology. This academic and spiritual training fundamentally reshaped his perspective on ministry, eventually leading to his 2022 appointment as the director of the Bible school in Moundou. While much has been achieved, he maintains that the work in Moundou has only just begun.
